Centromash / VTA recognition

A VTA issued in Belarus is valid across the EAEU, including Russia

A Vehicle Type Approval (VTA; OTTS in the EAEU registers) issued under TR CU 018/2011 by an accredited body of any member state has legal force throughout the Eurasian Economic Union. Below are the official documents, the legal basis and a way to check any VTA yourself

What you should also knowIssues of mutual administration of documents from different member states are being discussed by regulators. The legal force of a VTA issued in the established procedure has been confirmed by the EEC. If you have seen reports of restrictions, write to us — we will review your situation and your documents

Official response of the Eurasian Economic Commission

The Department of Technical Regulation and Accreditation of the EEC reviewed Centromash's enquiry and stated in its letter No. 16-1389 of 06.06.2026:

“…a vehicle type approval issued in accordance with the Customs Union Technical Regulation ‘On safety of wheeled vehicles’ (TR CU 018/2011) has legal force throughout the territory of the Union”Letter No. 16-1389 of 06.06.2026, EEC Department of Technical Regulation and Accreditation · unofficial translation

The conclusion rests on Articles 52 and 53 of the EAEU Treaty and on the applicant's right to choose any accredited body of the Union included in the Unified Register. The letter is informational: it introduces no new rules and relies on the Treaty provisions in force

What matters is not the country of issue but parameters anyone can verify:

  • Document status
  • Entry in the Register
  • Validity period
  • Scope of the type approval
  • Match between the vehicle and the declared type and variants
  • No suspension
  • Status of the issuing body in the register of bodies
